WHY SHOULD OUR SCHOOL JOIN ESGA?
• ESGA is the School Governors` Association for Essex. It is the representative body of governors of all schools in the County. Schools pay an annual subscription of £17.50 (from April 2012) All members of the school`s governing body are then full members of ESGA
• ESGA is affiliated to the National Governors` Association, and is able to access NGA information and support.
• ESGA represents all school governors on many education committees ensuring that your views and voice are heard.
• ESGA is independent of the Local Authority, which gives us strength when presenting governor concerns. However, we work closely with the LA where this is beneficial to governors, and have a Memorandum of Understanding with the LA to ensure that governor support is coherent and effective.
• ESGA works to ensure good practice of governance and are working to impart these through our website and at meetings and conferences.
• ESGA can answer issues of educational concern through our website and through regular newsletters to governors. We are happy to coordinate governors` views and ensure that they are passed on to those who can act to improve the education of children and young people.
• ESGA works to ensure that our members have access to sound advice, relevant information and individual support when needed.
• ESGA elect new members to its Executive Committee at its Annual General Meeting. This committee is active throughout the year, working for Essex governors
