Ruth Bird (Chair)
I have been a governor for nearly 30 years and joined ESGA in January 2010. I started working as a governor at my childrens junior school and then became a parent governor when they moved to The Boswells school. I am now a foundation governor and Chair at the school which is a specialist performing arts school and college in Chelmsford.
I first started my voluntary work through Guiding becoming a Brownie and Guide leader at 18 and a District Commissioner some 20 years later. I have also been involved in Scouting through my husband's troop.
I have just become the ESGA member for Mid Essex on the local Childrens Trust board.
Tosca Boothman (Vice Chair)
I am Secretary of ESGA. I have been a governor for about 7 years. I am Chair of Governors at Hadleigh Infants and Nursery School and I am also a governor at The Deanes School in Thundersley. I am passionate about improving the life chances of all children in our schools and spend many hours in school; never tiring of the pleasure it gives me to see the progress that children can make given the right support both at school and at home. I am also Vice Chair of the Castle Point and Rochford Children's Centre Partnership Board. I am married with three daughters. We have two dogs, two chickens and a goldfish.
Elizabeth Marshall (Secretary)
I am a foundation governor at Chelmsford Cathedral Primary school and a retired teacher, having taught Food Technology in a girls Secondary modern, mixed Comprehensive schools and for a short time in the independant sector. I was also the Chief examiner for the Food and Nutrition examination for seven years.
I have represented voluntary Aided Schools on the Schools Forum and am now the Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Education's Anglican representative on the Admissions Forum.
I represent ESGA on the planning group for the Governors County Confrence on the school year advisory group and am a member of the newsletter editorial board.
John Hunter (Minute secretary and treasurer)
I have been a governor for over 20 years and I am now Chairman of Glenwood special school in Benfleet and Chairman of James Hornsby High School in Basildon. Both the schools are in the BSF programme and we look forward to being provided with a school fit for the future. I am a member of the ESGA Executive and sit on a number of boards at County level representing governors. My background is in local government for most of my working life ending as a business manager/bursar in a secondary school. Since my retirement I have undertaken clerking of governing bodies and committees for schools in the primary sector.
John Clarke
I have been a governor for 23 years and have served on governing bodies of infant, junior and secondary schools. During my time as a governor I have chaired most committees and have served as Vice Chairman and Chairman on all the governing bodies I have been associated with. Currently I am the Chair of governors of Canvey Island infant school. Although now retired, I worked for the NHS as a scientist for 40 years in Pathology and currently am employed as an examination inviligator at two secondary schools on Canvey Island.
Gina Field
I worked for 25 years as a Matron/House Mistress in boarding schools.
I have been a governor for 7 years and gain a feeling of being able to contribute to a community school.

Rod Lane
I have been a governor for over 30 years and am currently on the governing bodies of Great Bradfords Infants and Nursery school in Braintree and Powers Hall Junior school, Witham.
I have a finance background and am Chair of the Schools Forum and Chair of the Finance Committees in both schools.
I joined the ESGA Executive in 2008 and represent the association on North Essex Local Children's Commissioning & Delivery Board and the Transitions Partnership Board. I represent Infant School Governors on the School Forum which I currently chair and am their delegate on the Schools Partnership Board, SEN Strategy Sub Group and the Early Years Working Group.
Rosemarie Lunn (Governor Services Representative)
